1996 Olympics Commemorative Coins
The commemorative coin program for the centennial Olympic Games held in Atlanta included a total of sixteen different coins. Eight were issued in 1995 with the remaining coins issued in 1996.
The coins included $5 gold, silver dollars, and half dollars authorized with rather high maximum authorized mintages. The coins sold significantly fewer than the maximum and eventually ended up as rarities.
The designs featured swimming, soccer, tennis, paralympics, rowing, high jump, flag bearer, and cauldron. Coins were available in proof or uncirculated versions, individually or a variety of packaging options.
